Integrating Insider
You can connect your platform to Insider via Insider Tag. This tag can be integrated into your website with a single line of JavaScript code. When this code is integrated, Insider can collect events and click-stream data through your website to create segmentation in your user base. Read more about Insider Tag here.
Collecting data
After Insider Tag has been integrated into your website, Insider's JavaScript functions send requests to Insider's API whenever a user visits one of your pages. These requests collect information about the customer’s:
- Click-stream activity
- Device specifications
- Event history
- Various non-personal data which can change depending on the page type
System Rules
To know which page type your visitors are on at a given time, we use some functions called System Rules. These rules are defined to understand the geography of your website and to track customers' activity - what type of pages they visit, which products they view or add to cart, if they make a purchase, etc.
Pageview and Event Collection
Insider collects default pageview (PV) data and event data. PV data includes elements like language, currency and cart amount. Event data describes an event at a point in time: average order value, total spend, last purchase date, last purchase amount.
Default Attributes
Default Attributes are properties that we collect from your websites using our JavaScript Code, System Rules or Insider Object.
Custom Attributes
You can also create Custom Attributes to collect data that is specific to your website.
